TernoisRené Choquet (Fiefs)
René Choquet will take the greatest pleasure in showing you around this village with a population of 500, of which he is the mayor. This small village nestled in the Ternois hills has had an eventful history. During the summer of 1944, because it was sheltering a V1 rocket launch pad, Fiefs was the target of almost 4500 bombs dropped by the Allied forces… René Choquet will tell you about the reconstruction of the village, where you will also find an arboretum and a church, which are definitely worth a visit. Pays d'Aire
Bruno Delannoy (Aire-sur-la-Lys)
Bruno Delannoy, a recently retired former estate agent in Lille, has always lived in Pays d’Aire because he was born in Racquinghem and now lives at Aire-sur-la Lys. Having work as a press correspondent for the last 20 years, he wanted to add another string to his bow by becoming a Greeter. This was an opportunity, as a volunteer, to introduce small groups to the heritage of the town, nicknamed 'La Belle du Pas-de-Calais' (the beautiful lady of the Pas-de-Calais).For Bruno Delannoy, the region of Aire-sur-la-Lys and the surrounding towns and villages are teeming with historical, cultural and natural sites, which are sometimes not well known and well worth exploring. The stories told by
Isabelle Marcotte about her village by adoption become special attractions,
which fit in perfectly with any tourist tour. For a thousand years, Liettres
has been a stopover on the Via Francigena, a pilgrim route running between
Canterbury, in England, and Rome. And it was in this peaceful village that
cricket was played for the first time towards the middle of the 15th
century. She not only welcomes visitors to her beautiful home, a former coaching
inn, but was the person who took the measures needed to obtain the 'Village
Patrimoine' (heritage village) certification for Liettres. The sites, which are
most suitable for bucolic walks, and the local produce of the Romanesque Lys,
have no secrets for this hiking and fine food enthusiast.

The origins of Bruno
Decrock's vocation as a Greeter go way back. As a young schoolchild, he found
out that the archives of Norrent-Fontes, the village of his birth, had been
burnt during the Second World War. The seed had been sown. As a student in
horticulture, he then developed an appetite for historical research, which
would never leave him, even during his career, which led him to many places
throughout France. On his return to Norrent-Fontes, and as curious as ever, Bruno
Decrock was happy to take on the mantle of the local historian.
